The Active Grandparenting Revolution

We ROCK!

The Active Grandparenting Revolution directly results from the elevated fitness levels of Baby Boomers and Gen X.

In a nutshell, 40-80-year-olds are taking their health more seriously, getting in great shape, extending the years they are physically active, and creating a health span to last their lifetime.

Increased mobility, stability, flexibility, and strength have led to a shift in grandparents' roles in the lives of their children and grandchildren. The most exciting part is how Active Grandparenting brings families closer together, improves grandparents' health, eases some of the stresses on today's parents, and helps grandchildren feel a greater sense of connectedness and security.

In the past several months, I have heard from thousands of Active Grandparents. Some, like my sister-in-law, provide consistent childcare; others, like us, have extended visits, sometimes babysitting while the kids go to a wedding or take a much-needed break.

A month ago, I posted a video on Instagram of me doing a back stretch to strengthen and relieve tension after a day with my grandchildren. I explained the importance of getting in shape to take on Active Grandparenting duties and how stretching is essential for staying in shape.

That reel has over 2 million views

It resonated with hundreds of thousands of grandparents in their 40s and above who are Active Grandparenting in a way that is different from previous generations. Staying fit and mobile is the difference between being helpful or needing help, and it's turning us into active agers who embrace grandparenting with unparalleled enthusiasm.

All of this intentional and physically active grandparenting is redefining the role of grandparents as dynamic contributors to family life. Instead of occupying passive roles, we become partners in exploration and adventure, embracing more opportunities with our grandchildren and strengthening the bond with our adult children because we are fun to be around and up for anything.

We want to be wanted and do what it takes to stay involved, helpful, and be terrific house guests. Active Grandparenting isn't just what we do with the grandchildren; it's what we do to make our children's lives easier, happier, and less stressful.
