Georgetown Waterfront Park is open
The 9.5-acre Georgetown Waterfront Park along the Potomac River is now fully open to the public after a planning and construction process that began 30 years ago. The park curves along the Potomac extending from the Washington Harbour complex to Key Bridge, linking 225 miles of parkland from Mt. Vernon, Virginia, to Cumberland, Maryland. The $24 million project was once an industrial complex including a power plant. The park was paid for through government funds and private fundraising led by Friends of the Georgetown Waterfront, whose officers according to tax filings include Robert vom Eigen, Jonda McFarlane, Barbara Downs, Robin Gilbert, Ann Satterthwaite, Grace Bateman, and Gretchen Ellsworth.
