Inspīr Embassy Row
A new senior living facility in Dupont.

Inspīr Embassy Row at 2100 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, is a new senior living facility in the heart of Dupont. I had the opportunity to meet with the General Manager, Timothy Cox, and get a tour of the facility. It is in the old Fairfax Hotel, and the tour brought back some good memories. I am old enough to have enjoyed going to the Jockey Club there, which is now the very beautiful dining room of the facility.

Tim took the time to show me through the facilities and it is very beautiful and all high end, from the apartments, to the penthouse lounge. There are plenty of spaces for those who can afford this facility to enjoy. Beautiful lounges, card rooms with a fireplace, a screening room, and health club. The pool is beautiful, and has a lift for anyone who can’t use the steps to get in.
Tim is a very knowledgeable, and personable guy, with over 30 years of experience in senior living, hospice, and healthcare management. Prior to joining Inspīr Embassy Row, Tim held several senior leadership positions, including Executive Director at AccentCare Maryland, where he oversaw hospice and palliative care services. He also served as the CEO of The Washington Home & Community Hospice in D.C., and held a leadership role at CareFirst BlueCross/BlueShield. These roles have honed his skills in quality improvement and innovative programming, making him well suited to oversee Inspīr's integrated care model and holistic wellness approach. Tim is also a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community. He lives with his husband just five blocks from Inspīr Embassy Row. Under his leadership, the community has achieved the SAGECare Platinum Credential, reflecting a commitment to providing inclusive and compassionate care for LGBTQ+ seniors. This accomplishment underscores his dedication to fostering an environment where every resident feels valued and respected.

There are 174 apartments, from studios to two-bedroom, but only about ten two-bedroom units. They are all rental, and you bring your own furniture. The least expensive studios start at $7,850, one bedroom at $9,700, two bedrooms at $15,300, and go up from there. That would include three meals a day, and use of all the basic facilities. The studios have a small kitchen; sink, refrigerator, and microwave. But then, all your meals are provided.

For someone like me, who uses my oven at home to store sweaters, lol, I wouldn’t need more. The one and two-bedroom apartments have more complete kitchens. The penthouse bar and lounge are spacious, and there is a very nice outdoor seating area as well.

According to Tom Gaston, Co-CEO, Maplewood Senior Living and Inspīr Senior Living, "The opening of Inspīr Embassy Row represents an exciting chapter in our mission to redefine senior living. We are proud to bring our transformative vision of luxury, wellness, and care to Washington, D.C., a city steeped in history and culture. At Inspīr, we continuously strive to exceed expectations by creating communities that honor the past while embracing innovation to deliver an unparalleled living experience."
Tim shared with me that there will be lifestyle programming inspired by the cultural vibrancy of Embassy Row. This will include collaborations with local museums, galleries, universities, and institutions, ensuring residents remain actively connected to the city's dynamic cultural scene. There is a large interdisciplinary team of in-house experts and trusted partners, who will collaborate to deliver personalized, outcome-focused support, tailored to each resident's unique needs.
There are three levels of care provided, depending on resident’s needs: Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Enhanced Support. Each level of care includes a wide range of services to support the health and wellness of the individual residents with an on-site interdisciplinary team of skilled and experienced care professionals. Prices are of course determined based on the level of care needed. On-site coordinated health services include: behavioral health, skilled nursing, pharmacy, PT/OT, dental, podiatry, audiology, laboratory, imaging, palliative care, hospice care.
The health and wellness area is run by a Wellness Director. There are therapeutic programs (i.e. aquatic therapy, halotherapy), concierge personal fitness training, and 7-day/week supervised fitness programs (yoga, meditation, water aerobics, core conditioning, brain fitness, dance, tai chi, swimming).
All in all this facility is a wonderful addition to the Dupont Circle community. For more information about Inspīr Embassy Row, or to schedule a tour of the model apartments, contact the Leasing Team at 202.293.2100 or lthomas@inspirsl.com.
