Juneteenth C&O Canal Boat Tour
Boat tour through Georgetown.
This Sunday, June 19, C&O Canal boat tours will have a special Black history theme in honor of Juneteenth – highlighting the C&O Canal’s role in at least one escape from slavery, and African-American contributions to The Star-Spangled Banner, as well as restoration of the Canal after its closure.
C&O Canal boat tours, back in Georgetown after more than a decade, are one-hour guided tours Wednesday –Sunday through October.
These historical tours along the first mile of the Canal are an opportunity to learn about its fascinating history, technology and culture – and the surprising stories of the people who lived, worked and played here over the past two centuries.
