From RdV to Lost Mountain

When I first wrote about the Holland native and former US Marine-telecom guy turned American winemaker, Rutger de Vink in 2013, I was thrilled. What a great story.  And who knew Delaplane, Virginia would have the perfect terroir for Bordeaux?!

After many, many tastings and tours at RdV (the winemaker's initials), I am sad to report that my favorite Virginia winery has recently been acquired by Eutopia Estates, the new brand name for the Bouygues family’s wine portfolio which includes Château Montrose in Bordeaux.

RdV Vineyards will be renamed Lost Mountain.

The 93-acre estate has 18 acres of vineyard, of which 50% is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, with 22% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot.
