Sneak Peek: Washington Design Center's New Digs
Protected by a magenta hard hat and fortified with a little Brie and a glass of Prosecco, it was time to check out The Design Center's (WDC) new digs.
Following the sale of its D Street, Southwest building last year, the Center found a new home downtown in the Franklin Court building at 14th and L Streets, Northwest.
Slated to occupy the second, third and fourth floors of the building, the showroom spaces boast 11-foot ceilings and abundant natural light.
"It's very central," says Scalamandre's Janelle Alexander. "We need the change. All the designers are ready for this." The New WDC plans to open in Spring of 2014.
Cardbord cutouts mark the designers' suites on the fourth floor. Also on the tour, the building's rooftop deck.
